Unit 7 deepens work with the Writing Cycle while introducing a new genre: persuasive writing. Children choose something they would like to change in their family, classroom, school, community, state, country, etc. and draft a letter to an influential person. Children will be highly engaged while learning foundational writing skills. This unit includes scripted lessons for Writing Workshop lessons (~2nd and 3rd graders) and Shared Writing lessons (~1st graders), as well as rubrics, handouts, etc.
