Reading Acceleration Pathway

Help children read on grade level or grow 1.5 years in reading in a single year. The Montessori Reading Acceleration Community of Practice curriculum, webinars, and coaching will help you achieve academic equity with your children

Built by teachers for teachers

The Problem We Must Solve

  • How to unlock strong literacy for all children—regardless of their backgrounds—to help open doors of opportunity as well as a lifelong joy for reading.

Our Solution

  • Montessori For All blended its knowledge from high-performing public schools with its deep roots in Montessori to design an accelerated Reading Acceleration Pathway to help kindergartners read at a 1st grade level by the end of kindergarten and elementary children grow at least 1.5 years in a single school year.

  • The Montessori Reading Acceleration Pathway incorporates the Science of Reading with Montessori principles to offer a systematic, streamlined curriculum to move children from letter sounds to reading books in ten months or less.

  • This pathway is an effective tool for all teachers in primary or elementary communities, SPED, or interventionist programs.

How it works:

Teachers, interventionists, and administrators who join the Community of Practice receive a curriculum, quick assessment, individual tracker, webinars across the school year, coaching, and weekly emails focused on:

  1. How to help kindergartners move from learning letter sounds to reading at a 1st grade level by the end of the school year

    or

  2. How to guide Elementary children to advance at least 1.5 years in reading in a single school year using our Montessori Reading Acceleration Pathway.

Inside the Curriculum

  • The Montessori Reading Acceleration Pathway starts with a strategic sequence of letter sounds.

  • Once children have mastered 6 letters, the guide begins dictating CVC words, which the children build with a moveable alphabet.

  • Simultaneously, the guide teaches a specific sequence of sight words.

  • Once the children have mastered a couple sight words, the guide begins dictating particular phrases and then sentences.

  • Once children have practiced building carefully scaffolded words, phrases, and sentences with the moveable alphabet, they go back and read those same words, phrases, and sentences on paper.

  • Eventually, children start reading books that have been carefully written to isolate the difficulty, based on which phonetic elements and sight words children have mastered.

  • The Pathway also includes phonological awareness activities.

  • In elementary, the lessons occur 1-3 times per week, depending on level. In primary they occur 3-4 times per week.

I’m really excited. This is the first really concrete webinar where I feel as if there are very tangible things I can take and use immediately this Fall in my class.

I was so proud of the progress that the children have made! They work so hard! The children are engaged!!! Conferences went really well as the parents feel that their children are learning and engaged...The structure and predictability of the pathway are things the children and I need to support our work together!

What people are saying

“We were worried initially about implementing this program because of our commitment to high-fidelity Montessori, and we wanted to make sure that we stayed aligned to that commitment. But our Montessori Guides have said that this program is everything they needed and everything they wanted. We are seeing great results with our children!”
